Presentation of the database

Image
Hello everyone and welcome to The Gigalith Database !  First : who are Gigalith and its line ? They are pure Rock-type Pokemon introduced in generation 5, with the games Pokemon Black and White. The small pebble Roggenrola evolves into the boulder Boldore at level 25, then into the big rock Gigalith when traded. They are often found in caves, especially in Unova. They appear in the regions of Unova, Kalos, Alola and Galar, plus some spin-off regions like Ransei.  About me and the Database I'm a big fan of  Gigalith and I love knowing everything I can about it and its evolutions. After writing a little guide on merch the family has, I wanted to gather all information found in several sites in one place, so I made the page you are reading. Even if I used Blogger because it seemed the most convenient, this is more of a database than a blog. I also collect merch and cards of the Gigalith family, and I run the  Gigalith Propaganda account  on Twitter to talk about my favourite rocks

Gigalith and its line confirmed for Evolving Skies !

Image
In the recent Japanese set Peerless Fighters, we got cards for the Gigalith line. They were not in the international set Chilling Reign, but we now know that they will be available in other languages in the set Evolving Skies that will be out on  August 27. That's a good new for Gigalith fans ! Pictures come from Pokellector

No Gigalith line for Chilling Reign

The wordlwide list for the Chilling Reign set of the TCG recently dropped and contrarily to what me and many other people expected, the Gigalith line cards from the Japanese set Peerless Fighters are not there. I modified the article where I said these cards were going to be in Chilling Reign. Maybe we can hope to see them in evolving skies ?

[Set] Boldore - Eviolite

Image
This Boldore is offensive and can assist its team with Stealth Rock. Rock Blast can pass through Substitutes, Focus Sashes and Sturdy. Earthquake allows to hit more Pokemon. Toxic can reduce the staying power of the opponent's stallers. With the Eviolite, Boldore will take physical hits well.  However, be wary of Boldore's low Speed, weaknesses and lack of recovery. Be wary of Knock Off too. Variants - Use Stone Edge over Rock Blast. - Use Superpower or Explosion over Toxic. - You can also try to use Boldore more defensively, but its lack of recovery and weaknesses are a problem. [Set] Roggenrola - LC

Image
This Roggenrola will support its team with Stealth Rock, Sturdy and the Berry Juice makes it easier. It's an offensive support, Rock Blast can pass through Sturdy, Substitutes and Focus Sashes. With Earthquake, it forms an EdgeQuake move core that can hit a lot of Pokemon. However, be wary to its low Speed and Special Defense, and its five weaknesses. Variants -Use Endure, Protect or Explosion over Body Press. Endure will allow Roggenrola to take a hit even if it doesn't have all its HP, and the Berry Juice will be activated. -Use Stone Edge or Rock Tomb over Rock Blast. -Use its Ability Weak Armor. [Set] RestTalk + Curse

Image
This Gigalith has an advantage over the others : it can heal itself. With Curse, it will raise its Attack and Defense stats and can become hard to knock out. That will make it loose Speed, but that's not a very big problem as Gigalith is already very slow. When you feel the need to heal, use Rest. Sleep Talk is here to not stay inactive during the two turns of sleep, it will be able to set up or attack with Stone Edge. However, this set can be a bit hard to set up because of Gigalith's weaknesses, its counters should be knocked out before. Also, you can't control what your Gigalith will do when you use Sleep Talk. In the worst cases, it could use Rest although it's already sleeping, which will make it fail and you will basically loose a turn ! And, be wary of Stone Edge's low PP, when they run out, Gigalith won't have any way to do damage. Variants -Use a more offensive EV spread. -Replace Curse with Earthquake. -Use another item, for example a Lum Berry to sk

[Set] Choice Band

Image
This Gigalith, with the Choice Band and its 135 Attack base stat, is made to hit hard. It's a regular Bulky Band set, with four offensive moves. This time, I chose Superpower over Body Press as the goal is to make the more damage possible. Be wary of its lack of recovery, weaknesses and very low speed. Also, it can be easily manageable for the opponent once it's locked on a move. This Gigalith doesn't have Stealth Rock, so having a partner with it could be good. Variants - Replace Iron Head by Heavy Slam - Replace Superpower by Body Press if you don't want to lose attack and defense, but it will hit less hard.  - Use it with Throat Chop
